Overview

Kiwi

Kiwi.com is a leading travel booking engine with a highly sophisticated search system.

Users typically discovered the app through prior transactions, brand reputation, or App Store demonstrations with promotional screenshots.

The Challenge

What we needed to solve.

Kiwi needed to redesign the onboarding experience to increase sign-in rates and help users recognize the value of configuring their profile information.

Users discovered the app through screenshots highlighting key features, so the onboarding had to match that first impression.

We tend to move fast and deal with a lot of edge cases. They kept up without cutting corners, which is rare. The team stayed responsive across time zones and handled complexity in a way that made life easier for our internal product and engineering teams.

The Solution

What we built.

We redesigned the user experience by streamlining login, customization, and setup processes to be more engaging.

Rather than requesting repetitive information, the redesign displayed app settings like currency, home airport, and travel preferences upfront.

Motion-Driven Flow

Motion design guided users through each step, creating a lightweight, comfortable experience versus page-navigation templates.

Preferences Upfront

Currency, home airport, and travel preferences surfaced early so the app personalized quickly instead of asking repeatedly.

Streamlined Login

Login and customization were combined so users reached a personalized feed with fewer friction points.
